Wedding Vow-Writing FAQ

Writing Your Own Wedding Vows – FAQ

Q1: Do we have to write our own vows?
A: No, not at all! You can write your own, use traditional vows, or choose from modern templates or my samples I’ll share with you. I’ll guide you through what suits your style and ceremony.

Q2: What should we include in our vows?
A: Great vows are personal, heartfelt, and reflect your promises. Mention love, laughter, shared values, and your hopes for the future. A little humour is welcome too!

Q3: How long should our vows be?
A: Keep them around 1–2 minutes each. Just enough to be meaningful, but not so long that you get nervous or forget what to say.

Q4: Can we keep our vows a surprise for each other?
A: Absolutely! Many couples choose to keep their vows secret until the big day. I’ll coordinate with each of you to make sure they’re balanced in tone and length.

Q5: What if we’re stuck or nervous about writing them?
A: I provide all my couples with a free vow-writing guide and offer 1:1 help. You’re not alone—I’ve helped many couples find the right words.

Q6: Can we include cultural, religious, or personal references?
A: Yes, definitely. Your vows can reflect your backgrounds, beliefs, inside jokes, or anything meaningful to you as a couple.

Q7: What are legal requirements for vows in Australia?
A: In a legal marriage ceremony, you must include a required legal statement—but your personal vows are your own. I make sure everything is covered.
