Beautiful Brisbane Elopement Locations
Planning a Brisbane Elopement? Here Are Some of My Favourite Brisbane Locations
Once upon a time, eloping meant running away in secret.
These days? Not so much.
Modern elopements or “Legals Only” weddings are gaining more popularity for couples to get married. They are relaxed, meaningful, personal and focus on what matters most – the two of you and your commitment to each other.
As a Brisbane Marriage Celebrant, I've had the pleasure of officiating elopements and ‘legals only’ weddings all across Brisbane, from riverside ceremonies to mountaintop vows and beautiful beachside "I dos".
If you're looking for beautiful Brisbane elopement locations, here are some of my favourites.
Why Couples Are Choosing Brisbane Elopements
More couples are choosing to elope because they want:
Less stress
Smaller guest lists
More flexibility
Lower wedding costs
A meaningful and intimate experience
Stunning photo opportunities
A larger second wedding overseas or a larger reception / party at a later time
One of the best things about eloping is that your ceremony can take place almost anywhere that is meaningful to you.
New Farm Park
If you're dreaming of a garden elopement, New Farm Park is hard to beat.
The beautiful fig trees, river views and expansive lawns provide a gorgeous backdrop for an intimate ceremony.
Why couples love it:
Beautiful greenery year-round
Easy access for guests
Gorgeous photography locations
Close to Brisbane CBD
It's particularly beautiful during spring when the gardens are at their best.
Brisbane City Botanic Gardens
The City Botanic Gardens remain one of Brisbane's most popular elopement locations.
Right in the heart of the city, you can enjoy lush gardens while still having the Brisbane skyline nearby for photos.
Perfect for:
Intimate ceremonies

I especially love the bamboo grove and riverside pathways for photographs.

Can You Elope Anywhere in Brisbane?
In most cases, yes.
As long as:
The location is safe
We have permission if required
There is enough space for the ceremony
The legal requirements can be met
You have far more flexibility than many couples realise.
I've officiated ceremonies in parks, private homes, gardens, waterfront locations and even some very unique family properties.
What Do You Need for a Brisbane Elopement?
One of the reasons couples love elopements is their simplicity.
At minimum, you'll need:
A registered marriage celebrant
Two witnesses over 18
Your Completed Notice of Intended Marriage (1 month notice)
To say the minimum required wording
A beautiful location
Each other ❤️
Everything else is completely up to you.
My Advice for Choosing an Elopement Location
Choose somewhere that feels like you.
The most beautiful location isn't necessarily the most expensive or the most popular.
It might be:
Your favourite beach
A family property
Your backyard or patio
A local park
A mountain lookout
A garden you both love
The best elopements reflect the couple, not the latest wedding trend.
