Want to get married without the fuss of planning a big wedding?

A Legal Only Wedding is the simplest way to legally marry in Australia. Sometimes called a "Legals Only Ceremony", "Registry Office Alternative" or "Simple Signing Wedding", this option is perfect for couples who want to be legally married without a full wedding ceremony.

As a Brisbane Marriage Celebrant, I help couples complete the legal requirements of marriage in a relaxed, friendly and stress-free way.

Whether you're planning a larger celebration later, organising an overseas wedding, or simply prefer to keep things simple, a Legal Only Wedding may be exactly what you're looking for.

What Is a Legal Only Wedding?

A Legal Only Wedding includes the minimum legal requirements needed for a valid Australian marriage.

It is a short and simple ceremony that focuses purely on completing the legal marriage process.

The ceremony includes:

  • The required legal wording

  • The Monitum (required by Australian law)

  • The legal vows

  • Signing of your marriage documents

  • Lodgement of your paperwork

The entire process usually takes around 5 to 10 minutes.

You'll leave legally married without the need for a large ceremony, reception or extensive planning.

What’s Included?

Kind words from some of my ‘Legals only’ couples:

We were so lucky to have Trudy as our celebrant. She was warm, professional, and guided us through every step of the process with such care. Trudy made our wedding ceremony feel truly personal and meaningful, and she also took care of all the paperwork smoothly so we didn’t have to worry about anything. We felt very supported and comfortable from start to finish. Highly recommend her to any couple looking for a wonderful celebrant!
